What is Poaching?

Poaching is the illegal taking of wild plants or animals contrary to local and international conservation and wildlife management laws.

Tips to prevent Poaching : 


  1. Have anti-poachers patrolling your farm every night.
  2. Have an eye out for unfamiliar movement on your farm.
  3. Do fence checks regualary.
  4. Communicate with neighbour farms.
Those are 4 basic tips.

Have an eye out for certain stuff for e.g.:


* Unfamiliar Signs like:
  • Vulture is begining to act very active in specific areas.
  • Shoe spoor next to fences .
  • Cut fences .
  • Snares.
  • Strange markings like:
  1. Plastic bags 
  2. Breakages of branches on weird places
  3. Blood
  4. Drag marks near fences

Resource Gaurdianship

This weekend was kind of busy... I did welcoming and Customer service for the first time at the Caravan park...I loved doing customer service because I had a smile on my face the whole time because it is a lovely feeling if guests are happy with the service we provide at Sondela.

We learned how to work with roundup and what the reason for roundup is...
We dipped ink berry with roundup after we harvested it so that we can kill it because we don't want it to grow again because it kills the animals on the farm...

Today we took the insides,legs and head of the calf that died from ink berry and left it at the Vulture restaurant for other animals to eat... we also cut open the heart to learn a bit of the rooms in the heart...The rest of the calf's meat were given to the chefs so that they can learn certain cuts.

Food & Beverage

Before I started at the Food & Beverage Department I couldnt waiter at all...
After a week and a half I got the hang of waitering...Its kind of simple.

1st Week at Food & Beverage...

  • In my first week at F&B I learned how to take an order correctly.
  • How to ring up an order and give the bill.
  • We got our workbooks its the thinest book with the most work in it...was very shocked when I did my first question and saw how much work F&B actually consists of!!
  • We even wrote a test on the Fourth day in F&B.
  •  I learned how to take stock...
Food & Beverage isnt that much work but its alot of repetition!!!

    First Week at Sondela Share Block.

    Sondela Share Block ...


    I was shown the small stuff about Sondela Share Block...
    • How to report Lost and Found properties.
    • How to handle Hazards in and around the workplace.
    • Worksheet procedures.
    LAUNDRY...

    • Learned how to iron with the ironing machine.
    • Learned how to fold towels for the bathrooms in chalets and how to fold the towels that must be placed on the beds.
    • Learned how to fold pillow covers.
    CHALETS...

    So far I've learned 4 of the cleaning types for Chalets...

    1. Deep Spring Clean ...

    • This is when every thing in a Chalets gets checked.
    • When an Chalets gets booked out for a week or two for Maintenence work.
